“Each new hour holds new chances for new beginnings. The horizon leans forwards offering you space to place new steps of change.” Maya Angelou
All educators need to be lifelong learners. At Bedford Girls’ School we instil a culture where the teaching body is encouraged not just to reflect and review their teaching but to seek out continuous improvement by sharing good practice, collaborating with one another and keeping up to date with the most recent research in their field. We create professional development opportunities for our staff to learn and provide them with ways to further their own knowledge.
For example, an hour each fortnight is ring fenced for teaching staff, to give them time to think about what they are doing, to look at the research, to be open to new ideas and think how we can do things not just differently but better than before. We call this Horizon Hour.
