This Year's Annual Fund Projects
Projectors
The Annual Fund seeks to encourage large numbers of alumnae, parents and friends to give a small sum on a regular basis. Whatever the amount of your donation to the Annual Fund it will be most appreciated and be of great help to our girls and teachers.
Of great benefit across the entire curriculum these will be hard wired into the ceilings of classrooms enabling teaching staff to project material from a laptop as well access information available through the internet.
The cost for each projector including installation and VAT is £2,500 each. We are planning over a number of years, as the budget will allow, to install these in every class room. We have 8 in budget for this year and are looking to install a further 20. Your support in this area will enable us to complete this project much sooner accelerating their introduction into the day to day teaching activity.
Semi-professional video equipment
The equipment includes camera, lighting, tripod and boom microphone. The camera supports all the new high definition formats and provides the user with the features required to shoot footage on a semi-professional level. This equipment will be used in many scenarios from utilising skills and experience in media, drama, career interviews to sports for studying and improving technique.
The cost for this complete set of equipment is £3,500 including VAT.
Westaway Bursary Fund
Bedford Charity Trustees reviewed the method of the funding of bursaries at the Charity's Schools as part of the current strategic plan. It had become evident that whilst the income from the endowment assets had increased over time, the growth rate was insufficient to match the growth in the school fees to which the bursaries granted related. As a result the number of bursary places had declined in the medium term.
The Trustees were however determined that bursaries should continue and agreed to change the funding of bursaries so the bursary programme is maintained or enhanced but funded by the schools themselves. The mechanism of the funding transfer has been planned to initially replace the existing funding and to increase in successive years.
Bedford High School Foundation embraces the longstanding commitment to widen the access to girls of recognisable potential and aims over time to enhance the bursary provision and enable many more girls to benefit from the excellent education that the school provides. To meet this challenge it has set up the Westaway Bursary Fund, named after the school's longest serving headmistress Miss Kate Westaway. There is further information about the Westaway Bursary Fund on this website.
