Bedford High School for Girls is an independent school for girls aged 7 to 18, and offers both day and boarding places. We have a wide choice of GCSEs and A Levels, as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
How many places are still available?
As we are constantly receiving registration forms, it would be best if you could contact Diana Banham, our Registrar, who will be able to give you the most up-to-date information on places.
How many pupils are there currently in the school?
We have around 160 pupils in the Junior School, over 400 in the Senior School, and more than 200 girls in our Sixth Form.
What are your class sizes?
We have a staff : pupil ratio of about 1:9, which gives us great flexibility in our class sizes.
In the Junior School, the girls will usually start in Form 1 with up to 17 other girls. From Lower 2 through to Lower 3, the number of girls in each form can increase to 22.
Once girls in the Senior School and Sixth Form select the subjects they would like to study for GCSE, A Level and IB, the class sizes vary depending upon demand. In the Sixth Form, tutor groups are no larger than 16 and there is a close relationship between the tutor, careers and subject staff.
What are the transport arrangements for pupils?

What are your term dates?
You will find our term dates, and dates for all of our other activities on our online calendar, including sporting fixtures with the location of the fixture. Simply select from the options available to you, and download all the dates you need for your daughter. You can also ask us to remind you of events by email.
What are your exam results?
Our exam results are published each year, and you will find them on our exam results page online.
