General Information
This information outlines the main topics which will be covered during the school year. The school curriculum aims:
To provide opportunities for each pupil to learn and achieve
To promote the pupil's spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life
The curriculum should enable each and every individual to respond positively to opportunities, challenges and responsibilities, to manage risk and to cope with change. It should provide each pupil for the next steps in their education and equip them to make informed choices at school and throughout their lives.
Homework / Prep
Homework is set regularly for the girls and is seen as an important part of the learning process. Each year places different expectations upon your daughter so that as she progresses through the school she learns to take responsibility for her own learning. By completing homework, your daughter will also learn to manage her own time in which she has to complete the activity/task.
In Form 1/Year 3, your daughter is expected to read her current reading book or other suitable reading matter and learn her multiplication tables every night. They should also bring home their spellings to practise and on occasion, some work may be set on a Friday for completion over the weekend.
Assessments
During the year, your daughter will complete assessments in English and Mathematics so that her progress is carefully monitored throughout her time in the school.
In the Summer term, all girls in the school complete End of Year Exams. These usually take place during the week before the May half term. In Form 1 (Year 3) the exams will be in English, Mathematics and Science.
