Exceptional GCSE results at BHSG
With 65% A* and A grades overall and 92% A* to B grades, pupils at Bedford High School for Girls have achieved exceptional GCSE results this year. 36% of the grades were A*.
Despite the recent national controversy surrounding GCSE performance in core subjects, girls at the school have excelled and achieved:
- 67% A* and A grades in English Language and Literature
- 63% A* and A grades in Maths
- 69% A* and A grades across the three sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
- 63% A* and A grades in languages (French, German and Spanish).
Alexandra Fletcher in particular should be congratulated on gaining 11 A*s, and a further eleven girls picked up the news today that they have each achieved 10 A*s. 20% of the year group gained at least 8 A* grades.
Mrs Julie Eldridge, Headmistress of the school said "I am truly delighted by these results. They are the best overall results we have achieved and show a substantial increase in the number of A* and A grades. The average score* per girl has also moved from 6.6 to 6.8 across the whole cohort demonstrating the strength in depth of the results."
