Olympian Returns to Bedford
The Sports and Performing Arts Centre is a recent addition to the facilities at Bedford High School. Formally opened by former student at Bedford High Dr Stephanie Cook MBE who catapulted into the limelight at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games when she gained a gold medal in the first Women's Olympic Modern Pentathlon.
The new Complex which is also available for use by other schools and the wider community boasts a Sports Hall, Swimming Pool, Multi Function room for Dance and Judo, Cardio Vascular Room and an excellent state of the art Theatre with cinema sized projection screen.
Although Stephanie never had such wonderful facilities whilst at the School she fully supports such developments. Joining Stephanie to celebrate this milestone for Bedford High were other old girls who had also gained International Sporting Honours. Their names are now proudly displayed on the honours boards in the new Complex.
