International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) programme is globally recognised as an alternative to A levels by the world's leading universities and employers.
We have been offering the IB to students since 2002 and are currently placed 8th in the Financial Times Top IB Schools ranking.
Examination results have been outstanding with an average of over 35 points - considered by UCAS to be the equivalent to four and a half A grade A levels. Each year some of our girls achieve more than 40 points.
If your daughter would benefit from a wide-ranging curriculum, then it would be ideal for her.
In addition to six subjects, she will study Theory of Knowledge where she will be encouraged to know how to learn, and how to critically evaluate information.
The Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) requirement, also encourages the continuation of extra curricular activities and community service which is highly valued at Bedford High School for Girls.
Completing a 4000 word Extended Essay on a research topic of her choice, will complete the demands of the course and equip your daughter will invaluable research skills for University and beyond.
If you would like to fint out more about the IB and whether it is suitable for your daughter, please contact Mr Cliff Canning, our IB Director on tel: 01234 360221 or email headof6th@bedfordhigh.co.uk. You can also visit the International Baccalaureate website www.ibo.org/diploma.
