Induction and Transition
Your daughter will be invited to spend a day with us before she starts so that she can meet her Form Tutor and her classmates.
You will also be invited to an information evening before she starts, and we will make sure that you have all the information you need from us for the start of term: uniform, term dates, tutor groups, etc.
When your daughter joins us she will be supported by a pastoral team and assigned a ‘first friend' who will make sure that she is looked after and quickly feels at home.
Most of her lessons will be taught by her Form Tutor who will play a significant role in monitoring her wellbeing, personal development and academic progress throughout her time with us.
Assessment of your daughter's progress is continual but does not involve constant testing. We will tailor her targets to her speed of progress and she will be stretched, but not stressed, and encouraged to develop an enquiring and questioning approach to learning.
As she moves through the school she will gradually be taught by an increasing number of specialist staff from the Senior School, so that when she moves up, she will already feel that she is part of the Senior School and that the move is a natural one.
Before your daughter moves to the Senior School, she will also meet her new Form Tutor, spend time in her new form room and find out more about life in the Senior School. Yet again, she will be assigned a ‘first friend' from a senior year who will look after her and help her to settle in.
The Junior School Final Assembly is the final celebration of the year where achievements in all aspects of school life are recognised and every girl is individually welcomed into the Senior School by the Headmistress and the Head Girl.
