Year 7 District Rounders

On Wednesday 29^th June the year 7 rounders teams travelled to Beauchamp Middle School to take part in the District Tournament - there were 16 teams entered in 4 pools of 4 teams. 

The U12 B team faced strong opponents in their pool, playing all 'A' squads. However, the highlight of the tournament was a win against Beauchamp School (6-4).  Well done to all team members! 

Squad:Izzy Buckholt, Ffion Lucas, Joanna Prettyman, Lydia Prettyman, Melissa Farquhar, Kayley Castle, Betsy Banks, Claudia Tollett, Teni Bishi, Lola Fudger-Galvez.  

The A team were drawn against Newnham in the first round and after a great batting and fielding performance we won 12.5 to 2. Next we were against St Gregorys and after just 13 balls they were all out - WIN 12 to 1.  

Dame Alice 'B' were the next opposition a close fought match and nerves started to kick in but they held it together and won 8.5 to 4.5.  

So then in the semi final we met Lincroft A team - a truly amazing batting performance from everyone and we won 12.5 to 2.5.

In the final we were against Bedford Modern - who had beaten us earlier in the season.

The girls had played really well in all the matches leading up to the final but now was the ultimate test and they needed to just go for it.

We unfortunately lost the toss and had to bat first. We made a very nervous and tentative start and lost players in quick succession. Then came the start of the most amazing rounders ever - Lily Pettifar did an outstanding 'soft hands' catch. Then Izzy Gurney made two fantastic backward hit catches, Followed by Kate Axford with an awesome catch and a succession of inspired stumpings and we achieved the most amazing result - a WIN - 7½ - 5½

Congratulations must go to all team members for an outstanding team performance and a very well deserved result marking the end to a very good season.
