Junior School Newsletter October 2008
Dear Parents
This half-term has been and continues to be packed with events so I would like to start by thanking you all for your continued support for the Junior School and for everything in which your daughters are involved.
Adelaide Square Parking. I would like to thank all of you who are helping and being so supportive and co-operating with the picking up arrangements from Adelaide Square at the end of the school day. Due to parents not parking on the double yellow lines outside the school entrance before 4.00 pm, the traffic is flowing much more smoothly. Thank you very much for your continuing support in this matter at this time of the day. We are trying to keep your daughters safe but we must also follow the law. I hope that we will be able to continue the excellent practice that is now in place.
Another important reminder is that girls should only be collected from the Junior School playground or from the entrance in Adelaide Square. Please do not ask your daughter to wait away from the school entrance to be collected as we will be unable to supervise her.
Open Morning. As many of you know, we will be holding our annual Open Morning on Saturday 4 October. Thank you to all of the girls who have volunteered to be around the Junior School taking part in various demonstrations, choir rehearsals, or science and other varied activities. You all represent the Junior School so well and many prospective parents always comment on how professional and polite you all are. So a huge, huge thank you. Your enthusiasm for, and pride in your school is infectious and genuine, and this always comes across when you are showing new families and their daughters around the school. I know you will do a very good job.
Activity Mornings. We have already held one of our Activity Mornings with Form 1 girls being joined by Year 2 boys and girls from Polam. We are looking forward to welcoming Pilgrims to the Junior School this week. As well as taking part in a variety of fun activities; they get a glimpse of what life is like in the ‘big school' and end their morning by joining us for lunch. We look forward to welcoming children from Acorn just before half term as well as being joined by old friends and new when boys from Bedford Prep school join the Form 1 girls for their Activity Morning in November.
Harvest Festival. We look forward to welcoming you to our Harvest Festival which takes place on Thursday 9 October in the Senior School Hall. We are particularly delighted to be welcoming Mr Paul Fricker who will be returning to school following his retirement last summer to speak on the theme of Harvest.
Future Events. Just a few of the other activities to look forward to next half term are the Form 1 Nativity, a visit from the Scholastic Book Fair, Children In Need Day, the PA ‘Get Set for Christmas' Fayre, an informal concert and, of course, our End of Term Carol Concert. Phew!
