Mrs Howlett (Deputy Head of PE)

The cross country season got off to a flying start on Thursday 10th October with the opening round of the English Schools’ Cup Competition.

Held at Robert Bloomfield Academy, schools across the region were racing in the Junior (Years 7 and 8) and Intermediate (Years 9 and 10) age groups. The event is a highlight in the cross country calendar, attracting hundreds of athletes from schools in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

The depth of the field was very competitive, as entries tend to be schools who have a strong history in cross country. The athletes produced fantastic individual results, with both Rosie Foster-Glennon (Year 8) and Natalie Simmons (Year 10) placing second in the Junior and Intermediate age groups, respectively. Both teams placed first overall and look ahead to competing in the regional round, which takes place on Saturday 9th November at Sibford School, Banbury. This round will be an exciting opportunity for athletes to test their determination against a host of top running schools.
