We are delighted to announce that talented athlete, Megan Barnicoat (Year 7), placed second in the Under 13 County Cross Country Championships on Saturday 7th January.

Competing on a hilly course around Ampthill Park in cold, wet and windy weather, Megan and her Bedford & County AC team also placed first against a highly competitive field. Against older competitors, Megan’s high placing means she has qualified to represent Bedfordshire at the National Inter County Championships due to be held in March, and she has also been shortlisted for a place in the East team at the London Mini Marathon race in April for the country's top young athletes.

Also, a regional netball player and on the Swim England Talent pathway, Megan appreciates the support from her teachers and coaches at school, she said: “It is difficult combining the 5am starts for swim training through to late night returns from practices, and fitting in my school work, but everyone at BGS wants to help, so I can make sure I keep a good balance.”
