Curriculum Conversations: Digital Innovation Takes Centre Stage at BGS

By Mrs Hudson-Findley (Director of Digital Learning, Enterprise and Sustainability)

On Monday evening, a well-attended Curriculum Conversation session offered parents insights into the future of education, shedding light on the integration of A.I., VR, and AR in our classrooms. I was joined by our IT Manager, Ms Constanti, Ms Rogers, our LRC Manager and our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Johnson, who illuminated the robust strategies and cutting-edge tools poised to enrich student learning while ensuring online safety.

Parents received an overview of the A.I. tools set to transform personalised learning experiences. Customisation and innovation stand at the forefront, ensuring that each student’s educational journey is tailored to their unique needs and potential. Online safety was explained, detailing the enhanced measures to ensure that students navigate the digital world securely when interacting with emerging technologies such as A.I.

Parents were given the opportunity to view the extensive range of VR and AR curriculum materials. The Headsets are designed to make complex concepts accessible and engaging. This technology is set to revolutionise the curriculum, offering students an immersive learning experience. Parents were invited to try for themselves and seemed to enjoy the experience as much as our students.

Parents expressed their positive feedback, excited about the technological advancements that promise not only to equip students with essential knowledge but also future-proof their skills. The integration of technology into the curriculum is seen as a significant stride towards preparing students for a competitive job market, characterised by rapid technological advancements. In an environment that can often feel like shifting sands, it was a pleasure to offer our parents a look at how we are leveraging technology to offer our students opportunities to build their knowledge and confidence.

We hope this session will be the first of many that will continue to explore the role of digital technology in education, fostering a collaborative environment where parents and educators work hand-in-hand to enhance student learning.
