Exploring Artistic Mediums

Junior School Art & Textiles

By Mrs Crawford-Smith (PYP Coordinator)

This week, Year 5 took part in an exciting art workshop with the talented visiting artist, Mrs Chris Richbell. During this enriching workshop, our young artists had the opportunity to explore the fascinating mediums of graphite, ink, and chalk pastels. Drawing inspiration from the renowned artists Henry Moore and Monet, they delved into the world of shape, form and perspective.

The artistic experience links closely to their current Unit of Inquiry of How the World Works, in which the pupils are exploring how human’s curiosity over time has developed our understanding of the universe. Having analysed the form of our solar system, the pupils will go on to design their own planet to use both as the setting for a myth and as the subject of an artistic response. We are looking forward to seeing their imaginations soar as they draw upon the skills they have developed over the course of this half term. Keep a look out around the school and on Instagram for their artistic creations!

It was wonderful to be able to welcome Mrs Chris Richbell, who is a member of our BGS community, into our school.
