National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches

New for 2010 we will be running two 'National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches' (NRASTC) courses.

The qualification is designed for all swimming teachers and coaches and covers basic first aid and lifesaving techniques in and around the swimming pool.

Most swim schools, schools that teach swimming in lessons, and hirers of swimming pools require that the staff on duty have a minimum of the NRASTC qualification. On successful completion you will have a certificate that is valid for 24months from the date of assessment.

The first course will be running on Sunday 21st and Sunday 28th March 2010. The first Sunday will be 9-3pm, with the second running 9-1pm with assessments starting at 1pm (normally assessments last around two hours).

The second course will run Sunday 22nd August and Sunday 29th August, with the same times as the first course. This course is ideally suited to those teachers/coaches that need to have the qualification in preparation for the start of the new academic year.

For more information on the syllabus, and requirements for the NRASTC qualifiaction please click here to go to the Amateur Swimming Association website.

If you would like to book a space on either of the courses please email sportman2@bedfordhigh.co.uk with your contact details (stating which course you are enquiring about) and you will be sent an application form and covering letter in due course.
