Exam Results
Examination results at Bedford High School for Girls and Dame Alice Harpur School have been excellent again this year with over one third of students from both schools achieving 3 or 4 A* and A Grades at A Level. At both schools over 18% of entries were at the top A* grade and over 50% of entries were at A*/A grade – which is double the national average.
At the High School, following on from the success with the IB Diploma programme, combined A* at A level and 7 points in the IB were achieved by 20% of girls and A*/A and 7 or 6 points in the IB by 56% of the girls. Nine girls passed 5 A levels, each with at least one A* and three girls excelled particularly – Elaine Wong with 4 A* grades and Mandy Chan and Wing Cheah with 3 A* and 2 A grades. A quarter of the year group achieved all A* or A grades and over a third had a minimum of 3 of these top grades. Despite the fierce competition for University this year we are delighted that so many girls have already gained acceptance for places this autumn and we are confident that, with the super results obtained across the board, everyone will soon be settled.
This is setting quite a challenge for next year’s Upper 6 as we begin our final year on the High School site, but I am delighted to be maintaining such excellent standards and contributing to the strong reputation which is building for Bedford Girls’ School. This is an excellent foundation from which to start and we look forward to the future eagerly.
