Assessment

Here at Bedford High School for Girls, we strive to create a positive environment in which all are challenged and are inspired to achieve their potential. It is with this aim in mind that we will assess your daughter and base our offer of places at 11+ and 14+.

In summary, your daughter will be examined in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning if she is joining Years 7, 8 or 9. 

If she wishes to join us in Year 10 to sit GCSEs the following year, she will also sit an entrance exam in Science and this can be done on the formal assessment day or at any other time, subject to places being available. 

2009 admissions

Our formal assessment day for admission in September 2009 was in early February 2009.  However, we are usually happy to consider later registrations and assessments at any stage of the school year subject, of course, to places being available.  If this is the case, we would encourage you to come along for a personal visit or taster day. 

2010 admissions

If she would like to join us in September 2010 and attends the assessment day on Thursday, 14 January 2010, she will have some time over lunch to get to know the other girls sitting the exams.  This will give her the chance to strike up friendships, which hopefully can continue through the summer months, prior to starting at Bedford High School for Girls.
