Over £300 raised
On Sunday 27th June, the hottest day of the summer so far, our School Charity Committee organised a car boot sale to raise money. Many people turned up to participate, and so we were able to successfully raise over£300.
The stalls were full of fascinating items, including clothing, paintings and antiques... and many bargains! The school's charity committee were selling cupcakes, biscuits and drinks to help towards the fundraising.
The Charities that the Committee decided to support were: Keech Cottage Children's Hospice, which we have been supporting as a school throughout the year, and also C.A.L.M - a campaign that we have decided to support recently. C.A.L.M. stands for ‘Campaign Against Living Miserably', that sends the message out: ‘Being silent isn't being strong!'
This event was certainly a very fun and exciting one, but also a meaningful one. It was lovely to see how many people were willing to support the charities. I hope even more people will come to participate and support the good causes next time - and it's always worth looking for a good bargain!
The Charities Committee, coordinated by Mrs Fudger Gálvez, would like to give special thanks to Mrs Whitbread, Mr Lawrence, Mr Wright and Mrs Otto for their help and assistance leading upto and during the event.
