New Swimming Pool Cover
On Wednesday 20th May we had a new swimming pool cover installed in the Sports and Performing Arts Complex. With the pool cover we hope to be able to start making immediate savings on electric, gas, water, chemical and air handling costs.
The biggest winner from the installation will be the environment with a projected saving of approximately 100 tonnes of CO2 per year - just from the pool area. This saving is the equivalent of turning off 200 60W light bulbs that would otherwise be on 24 hours per day for an entire year.
The cover will be used every day, with it being put on the pool at 10:00pm every night, after our public swimming sessions, and being taken off at 5:30am before the Early Birds public swimming session.
