L5 Concert by Clare Greenwood
Weeks of rehearsals, lavish hair-straightening and tacky clothes shopping led to the spectacle that was the L5 Concert in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
With everyone pulling together as a team, the concert opened to blazing applause. Despite logistical nightmares (such as Slush the rap crew melting at the last minute), everyone performed with great professionalism.
Most of the acts were received with great enthusiasm, while others had the audience in peals of laughter, such as the long anticipated, welcome return of the comedy act 'Thing 1 and Thing 2'.
An informative and inspiring speech from a representative of The Teenage Cancer Trust reminded everyone of the worthwhile cause that all this was in aid of.
The half-time cake sale was a success, with the hockey players raising lots of money for the South African township school that they will be visiting and supporting as part of their tour.
The second half of the concert went equally well, with some stunning singing, acting and dancing. The audience never wanted the show to end, calling for encores from Ice3 , who repeated their award-winning routine to rapturous applause.
Overall, an evening of talent, hilarity and enjoyment. Great fun was had by all, and so far, over £400 has been raised from sale of tickets, wristbands and raffle tickets for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
On behalf of everyone involved, I would like to thank our fantastic visiting speaker, all the performers, crew and organisers, without whom it would not have been the sensational, memorable night that it was.
Current pupils and parents can hear some of the songs performed at the concert on the school's intranet.
