Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

14 June 2010

Thirty-one L5 girls set off in groups from two different locations south of Bedford on their Bronze D of E expedition on Saturday 12th June. For most of the girls it was their final qualifying expedition, and for a few their first practice. They walked to Henlow camp site, following a pre-prepared route and everyone arrived safely at camp - although some a little later than others. They put up tents, cooked and compared stories before settling in for a good night's sleep.

Saturday morning saw the girls a little blurry eyed and somewhat stiff but everyone soon packed up their tents and set off on their final days trek. A short but sharp shower meant a thorough soaking but then it would not be a D of E expedition without getting wet. A few hours later everyone arrived at their respective finishing points, gladly shedding rucksacks and boots.

Everyone should be congratulated on a good weekend.

Once again we thank Mrs Ross for master-minding the whole weekend. Thanks also go to Mr Owen and Miss Birch.
