Chapel Choir at St Edmundsbury Cathedral
Chapel Choir returned to sing Evensong at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral after last visiting in 2004.
The cathedral is very different now and has a remarkable gothic-style tower.
We were very well looked after and cathedral staff were very pleased to have us.
Although there is now construction work being undertaken on the ceiling, the acoustic was resonant and the choir's timbre warm and pleasing.
Mr Bond gave a very supportive accompaniment from the extremely high and distant organ gallery, anticipating the beat by means of CCTV. Our Lay Chaplain, Mr Fricker, read the first lesson and led the intercessions. The programme was:
- Introit: Come, Spirit of our God - Rees
- Responses: Bramma
- Psalm: 25
- Canticles: Weston in D minor
- Anthem: The Lord is my Shepherd - Greene
- Final responses
Once again, we have been invited to return.
