L6 IB Students Visit Bedford Gallery

05 May 2009

On Wednesday afternoon, as part of our Theory of Knowledge course, Lower 6 IB students visited Bedford Gallery to see the 'Treasures' exhibition which explored the meaning of the word 'treasure'.

The gallery opened on 1 April after refurbishment and we were lucky enough to see a selection of local 'treasures', from both the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery and Bedford Museum, under one roof.

We were particularly interested in an oil painting entitled 'Mrs Box' by Dora Carrington, painter and old girl of Bedford High (1903-09), whom we have recently been discussing in class.

On the way, we noticed, some of us for the first time, the two drawings of Carrington's which hang in the entrance to our school and, as the sun was shining, we went to see the two houses in which Dora Carrington lived with her family.
