'Live for One Night'
After months of planning, breaks and lunchtimes devoted to organising and sleepless nights due to levels of stress higher than they would be before a two hour maths exam, Thursday 4th March finally arrived, bringing with it U5's "Live For One Night". This year group, having already held two shows in previous years, was set to showcase their unbeatable talent once again, with the added twist of predominantly live music. A phenomenal evening ensued.
Much of the year participated in the many acts which ranged from classical piano pieces to outstanding contemporary dance, as well as including a drama piece and several solos which demonstrated how lucky we are to have such a large number of incredibly talented singers. In addition, Emily Chase who is now renowned for her strength at composing her own pieces, treated the audience to three of her latest ones, including "Farewell" written in reaction to next year's merge of our Junior School with the school at Dame Alice, as she like many others has been in the school since Form One, and it was an important topic for her to sing about.
A huge thank you must go to everyone who contributed to the evening in some way, not only those who performed and the exceptional presenters, but also the backstage crew, those who donated raffle prizes and most importantly the cup-cake makers for the interval refreshments! Furthermore, the live aspect of the evening, which everyone agreed made the evening unique and original, was due to the great support from the music department staff and some pupils from across the school, who gave their time to learn pieces of music for the girls!
The evening was a great success, as we managed to raise over £450 for our Key Stage Charity "Keech Cottage Hospice" and we sincerely hope that everyone who attended had a great time.
