Sixth Form

Sixth Form is quite different from earlier times at school.  Your daughter will have more independence, greater personal responsibility for managing her time and undertaking independent study.

Girls in the Sixth Form also play a significant role in the School Council and are expected to take greater responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school.

The Sixth Form girls have their own centre, Watkins House, where the atmosphere is more relaxed and where many friendships are formed while also developing a degree of independence where there is a bright and lively culture.  There are:

  • A number of common rooms
  • A kitchen
  • And quiet areas available for private study.

The Sixth Form also play a significant role in supporting the life of the School and regularly to show visitors around, help with activities for younger girls and take on roles of leadership and responsibility. The Sixth Form elect their team of School Officers from whom a Head Girl and three Deputies help to coordinate activities for the year groups, including the organisation of the Leavers' Ball which is held annually at the end of the Upper Sixth examination period.

We will continue to encourage your daughter to enrich her experience during her time with us through her ongoing participation in extra-curricular activities.  Subject-based societies are also a key feature of the Sixth Form, and a significant aid to learning through practice and discussion.
