Sports Facilities
We have extensive outdoor facilities which include a 12 acre Games Field on the picturesque and well established Beverley Crescent site, and a purpose built Sports and Performing Arts Complex that opened in 2004.
Lacrosse
We have six Lacrosse pitches that are used throughout the Autumn and Spring Terms for timetables lessons and Team training sessions. Also used at the weekends for inter-school matches and tournaments. Having the luxury of six pitches allows us to host a number of Regional and National Competitions.
Hard Courts

Tennis Courts
- 11 outstanding grass courts
- A lovely setting for curriculum tennis lessons, our school tennis championships, school house tennis competition and inter-school matches after school and at weekends.
Athletics
- 400m Grass Athletics Track (Summer Term)

- High Jump Area
- Shot Putt Circle
- All weather Athletics Track
- The girls utilise the Bedford International Athletics Stadium for team and recreational training, Senior School Sports Day and local competitions.
Rounders
- 8 rounders pitches (Summer Term), used for lessons, clubs, matches and local tournaments.
Pavilion
Our pavilion provides a changing area and after match catering facility.
Floodlit All-weather Astroturf
We have access to four astroturf pitches for all hockey lessons, training and matches allowing the girls to practice comprehensively right from their first experience of hockey in the Junior School. On average we train and play on these pitches for between 12-15 hours a week during the hockey terms and for a comparable amount of time during the tennis season.
Boat House
We use the fully equipped and recently extended schools Boat House. It offers changing facilities and storage capacity for all the schools' boats. The girls are also able to extend their land based training by using the ‘ergo's' at the boat house and the main school site.
Hard Surface
There are two further hard surfaces for Netball (1 full sized, 1 junior court) on the main school site, which is used for curriculum PE lessons across the Junior and Senior school.
Sports and Performing Arts Complex
The school saw the completion of a brand new Sports and Performing Arts Complex in the summer of 2004 and is now benefiting and enjoying the use of a superb purpose built facility.
The complex comprises :
- SWIMMING POOL
- a 6 Lane, 25 meter indoor swimming pool with state of the art ‘Ozone' (no chlorine) filtration system. The facility also offers a 12 metre viewing gallery from the 1st floor
- this facility is used by pupils of all ages for a large proportion of everyday. In addition to its use for timetabled lesson the facility is used for Junior and Senior Swimming Training and Galas before and after school and recreational swimming for the Boarders at the weekend.
- SPORTS HALL
- Accommodates a range of activities including Badminton (4 courts), Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Indoor Tennis (1 full court), Indoor Hockey, Indoor Football.
- The Sports Hall is also used for curriculum lessons (gymnastics, netball, trampolining, badminton, mini tennis) and at lunch times and before and after school and weekends for team training and other recreational sessions (including - volleyball, Indoor football, Indoor hockey, netball, lacrosse, gymnastics, badminton, trampolining, circuit training).
- FITNESS & WEIGHTS SUITE
- A well equipped suite which includes the latest high specification equipment
- The facility is open to girls in the Sixth Form during and after the school day once they have undergone an induction course by trained centre staff. Girls below these years are given controlled access under strict guidance and supervision owing to the incomplete formation of their muscular-skeletal system.
- MULTI - FUNCTION ROOM
- A large open space which boasts a sprung floor. This is ideal for dance (ballet, modern, tap), aerobics, judo and yoga, it is heavily used for timetabled lessons and after school activities.
