Guild Biennial 2008
The weather was at its very best as members arrived on Saturday for the Guild Biennial Meeting. The day started with the service in the Main Hall followed by coffee in the Atrium and then the Annual General Meeting. The afternoon saw more former girls arriving to join everyone for the splendid lunch held in Trinity. It was encouraging to see so many who had previously attended Reunions that have been held in the school. Mr Paul Fricker received thanks for his long service to the Guild and has agreed to continue to serve as lay preacher in the future at the Guild events.
Mr Clifton Ibbett and his wife were the invited guests and Mr Ibbett spoke with much enthusiasm about the Bedford High School Foundation which had been launched the previous day. Mr Ibbett who is the Chairman of the Foundation invited everyone associated with the school to become involved. The purpose of the Foundation is raise funds to enhance the bursary provision and improve the facilities within the school. He announced that an anonymous donor had agreed to match pound for pound the amount raised before the end of June 2008 up to a total of £50,000.
At the end of the lunch there were four enthusiastic 6th Form girls on hand who had volunteered to conduct tours of the School. The afternoon finally came to a close at about 4.00pm.
