U14 County Champions 2009: Indoor Hockey
Recession? What recession? Interest rates may be down but there was no sign of it at the U14 County Indoor Tournament where the interest in winning was very high!
No sign of unemployment either as the team kept the opposition goalkeepers fully occupied as they fired in 19 goals during the afternoon!
Our defence was resolute, our focus absolute and some of Jazzy Whitlock's deflected goals, very cute! Emily Myrtle was full of energy and movement and orchestrated the play and scored a hat-trick of goals.
Following wins against Bedford Modern, Icknield and Cedars, we went into our final match against the sky blues of Dame Alice knowing it was a High School Musical moment and we really had to keep our 'head in the game' and the girls did not disappoint!
Tessa Forbes, Anie Duncan and Fran Wood, to their great credit, made many 'crunch' tackles and provided the springboard for some resourceful attacking play. Emily opened the scoring and further goals from Fran Wood and two from Megan Craddock secured a convincing 4-0 win.
Captain Anna Monk proudly collected the shield to herald Bedford High School for Girls U14 INDOOR COUNTY CHAMPIONS FOR 2009!
Like the U15s last week they had completed the double for the season, winning both the outdoor and indoor county tournaments.
Goalscorers - Bedford High 5 goals for Jazzy Whitlock, Fran Wood and Megan Craddock, 3 for Emily Myrtle and one for Nellie Banks.
Congratulations to the whole squad - I was proud of them all. No recession - just lots of credit on a job well done!
