Young Musician of the Year 2009: Rotary Clubs of Bedford
If you were aged under 18 years of age on 31 August 2008, you are invited to attend the Rotary Clubs' Young Musician of the Year 2009 Competition. Entry is open to soloists attending schools in Bedfordshire. There are three age groups: Junior (6 - 10); Intermediate (11 - 13) and Senior (14 - 17). There is no entry fee.
Heats will be held at Newnham Middle School, Polhill Avenue, Bedford at 7.30 pm on Thursday 8 and Thursday 15 January 2009. The final will be held at Bedford Modern School on Thursday 12 February.
Each entrant may only perform on one instrument and will be expected to play for a maximum of five minutes in the heats. It is the responsibility of the entrant to provide any accompanist they require.
Certificates will be awarded to all entrants and cash prizes will be awarded for the first three places in each age group in the Final. The winners of the Intermediate and Senior categories may be invited to spend the day with the Philharmonia Orchestra as part of their prize.
The closing date for entries is 9 December 2008. If you would like to enter this prestigious competition, please collect an entry form and further information from the Junior School office.
