It was a brilliant end to the cross-country season for elite athletes representing Bedfordshire County at the English Schools Cross Country Championships.

Held at Sefton Park in Liverpool on Saturday 14th March, the championships is one of the major highlights on the cross county circuit, with over 2000 runners competing in this year’s event. After outstanding qualification performances at the recent County Cross Country championships in February, Rosie Foster-Glennon (Year 8), Natalie Simmons (Year 10) and Marisa Mistry (Lower Sixth) were vying to put in strong performances for their county.

Talented runner Rosie Foster-Glennon’s Bedfordshire team placed in third at the Inter-Counties under 13 title seven days earlier in muddy challenging conditions, and at Sefton Park, she once again excelled, placing 35th out of 344 athletes in the Junior Girls race.

The muddy trails did not deter Natalie Simmons and Marisa Mistry in the Intermediate and Senior events, who placed 116 and 264 respectively. It was a thrilling end to the cross-country season, with the girls now setting their sights on track and field athletics in the summer.
