Senior School Lacrosse

Mrs Greenwood (Lacrosse Coach)

The U13 lacrosse season has seen its share of ups and downs. Wins and losses were narrowly defined by one or two goals. The much-anticipated Lacrosse National Schools was cancelled, due to the skies opening up and showering England once again with unprecedented amounts of rain.

Despite it all, there was one last competition to play, the U13 County Tournament on Wednesday 11th March. Two teams geared up for one final battle, goggles on and mouth guards in. The sun was shining and the supporters were out. Fierce competition was knocking at the door and the girls answered with no hesitation.

The U13B finished in the middle of the pack with three wins, one draw, and three losses, placing 4th overall. The A team showed up ready to validate the hard work they have put in during every session. Excited and antsy the girls put their first win on the board against St. Albans, a narrow 3-2 victory. Followed by a second, and then a third. There was no let up. They learned from every experience, every failure, and every success.

By 4:30pm our fates were sealed, six victories placed BGS in the final. The opponents were St. Albans with a replay of the first match of the day. The ball pinged back and forth up and down the field, tired and out of breath; all were determined to push through. The final whistle and the side-line erupted! BGS WINS!

For the first time in the school’s history, the BGS name will forever be engraved onto the U13 trophy for all to see. A job well done to all the U13s who have participated in lacrosse this season, it wasn't just the girls on the field who made this happen, but everyone who showed up at training and lessons, all challenging one another. Who knows what next season will hold!
