On Tuesday, students in the Lower Sixth taking Maths for either A-level or IB enjoyed an enriching event at the University of Warwick, hosted by Education in Action.

The students saw a variety of speakers and accompanying lectures, including those by Sophie Harker, Emily Grossman, and Kyle Evans, all big names in the current world of science and mathematics. These lectures ranged from informative to humorously experimental, some which inspired a number of our attendants with ideas exploring engineering and aerospace and others which taught everyone in the audience new mathematics principles and topics, such as topology and (less scientifically) “good maths.”

The event even included a lecture featuring the ‘Top Tips’ for those doing A-level, particularly helpful because it drew on previous papers and past student answers to illustrate exactly by what methods one could achieve the highest marks possible.

In general, a well-enjoyed and valuable trip, one that definitely rekindled the appreciation of the subject in most, if not all, of the students who came.
