It’s been a busy and rewarding past two weeks for star golfer, Roisin Scanlon (Year 9), who has been competing against the very best golfers across the globe in both the St Rule Trophy (28th- 29th May 2022) and the German Girls Championship (2nd – 4th 2022).

The St Rule Trophy is a 54-hole open amateur stroke play tournament for elite lady golfers played on both the New and Old courses at St Andrews Links. Since its inception in 1984, the St Rule Trophy has attracted the top lady amateur golfers, many of whom have gone on to enjoy success on the Ladies European Tour, notably Annika Sorenstam, Catriona Matthew and more recently, Melissa Reid.

Roisin on the first day (36 holes) shot scores of +2 and +2 on the New course but managed to improve her overall score by shooting -2 on the Old Course to finish 29th overall on +2 for the tournament. An outstanding achievement by Roisin, who relished the opportunity to compete on a prestigious course.

It was then a quick dash off to Germany to compete in the German Girls Championships at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot where in 2015 the club hosted the 2015 Solheim Cup.

The German Girls Championships is one of the premier girl tournaments with 105 of the best female golfers in Europe competing. Roisin opened her 1st round with +4 on the St. Rot golf course and in the 2nd round saw Roisin shoot -2 on the St. Leon.  In the final round, Roisin shot Level par on the St. Rot finishing the tournament on +2 and tied for 20th place. Roisin also finished the tournament 3rd best under 16, now a member of the Irish national squad was also best of the Irish.
