We are delighted to announce that two alumnae have been recognised in the New Year Honours List 2024 and the King’s Birthday Honours 2023 respectively.

World leading Soprano, Carolyn Sampson (DAHS 1992), was awarded an OBE for her services to Music.

Carolyn has regularly performed at the BBC Proms, alongside many of the prominent orchestras of Europe and the USA, and on the opera stage in a number of title roles, including The Magic Flute and The Fairy Queen. In November 2023 she released her 100th recording. This award follows an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Birmingham, College of Arts and Law.

Professor Helen Langton (née West, BHS 1977) was awarded an MBE for services to Education, Health and Community. Helen is currently the Vice-Chancellor and CEO of the University of Suffolk.

A respected leader with a wealth of expertise across health and social care, Helen has been recognised as a driving force behind a transformational programme which has created vital partnerships that increase education, economic and wellbeing opportunities for the East of England regional community, with a strong focus on social mobility and inclusion.

Our congratulations to Carolyn and Helen.
